Artists Working in Education

Artists Working in Education offers children’s and youth arts programming across Milwaukee in parks, libraries and other locations. Learn more on AWE’s website.

Artist Working in Education has launched a new Silver City branch of their Artist In Residence (AIR) program. The goal is to give community members ways to creatively engage with their neighborhoods, neighbors, and share culture.

Sarah Gail Luther – the Artist In Residence in the Silver City, Burnham Park, and Layton Park neighborhood in 2020 – works in Milwaukee as a public artist and has been creating fun and easy projects neighbors can use to get their creative juices flowing! Some of the activities include:

  • Making a Boomba Stick. Create your own musical instrument at home.
  • Still Life Drawing Kit. Learn how to draw still life portraits at home.
  • Spring Beauty. Go out and enjoy the beauty of your block.

Boys and Girls Club

The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee offers a variety of summer camps at low cost. For more information, see the flyer, or visit their website.

Epic Center Community Organization

ECCO offers year-round youth activities including sports leagues, tutoring, and more!  Learn more on the ECCO Facebook page.

Journey House

Journey House is a Community Center in Clarke Square and offers adult education, youth development, workforce readiness, and family engagement. Learn more at the Journey House website.

Milwaukee Christian Center

The Milwaukee Christian Center offers help with homework, youth leadership, athletic activities and arts for all city of Milwaukee youth ages 7-18 from 3:00pm-7:30pm. Visit MCC’s website to learn more.

Mobile Bike Hub

The Wisconsin Bike Fed (WBF) Mobile Bike Hub promotes a healthy lifestyle through biking by teaching young people how to repair their bikes and educating them on proper bike safety. Urban Ecology Center

Children’s Memberships

For youth, just $15 per year will get your child a membership to the Urban Ecology Center Young Scientists Club, which features weekly environmental science programming. The Center also offers Summer Camps and lending of outdoor equipment including bikes, fishing poles, kayaks, and more! Visit their website for more information.

Youth Internships

If you or someone you know would like to be an intern with the Urban Ecology Center this summer, now is the time to apply. Their paid summer interns provide valuable help and receive hands-on experience in a variety of areas. You can see a full listing and detailed descriptions of available internships on their website.

Menomonee Valley Public Animal Feeding

Located at the Menomonee Valley Urban Ecology Center branch in Silver City. Anyone is welcome to see the animal feeding every Saturday 1:30 – 2 pm. It’s free! Donations are appreciated.
