GUIDING DOCUMENTS
Vibrant, Welcoming Neighborhoods for All
Our Values
Strength-based
We believe that communities are most sustainable when we build from existing strengths within people and places.
Community-led
We work to create equitable opportunities for community members to lead change. We believe that the experts on any issue are the people most affected.
Listening
We listen deeply to learn what matters and why. We build trust. We communicate.
Justice
We affirm the dignity of every person, recognizing that we historically and systemically have privileged only some. We work to eliminate barriers between people, as well as between people and opportunity.
Teamwork
We create strong, equitable and healthy neighborhoods only when we collaborate. We build connections and are confident that together we can make a difference.
Results
We are proactive, intentional and focused on positive impact.
Strategic Plan (2020-2024)
The VIA team develops action plans each year in alignment with the goals in this document and in alignment with ongoing community feedback. If you have questions or want to offer your feedback, we want to hear from you! Please reach out to us anytime through our website or email us at info@viacdc.org!
Neighborhood Action Plan
Neighbors in Silver City, Burnham Park and Layton Park co-created the Neighborhood Action Plan (2019 update) and original Quality of Life Plan (2011) sparked by the Zilber Neighborhood Initiative.
2018 Housing Experience Survey Report
Nearly 350 residents of the Silver City, Burnham Park and Layton Park neighborhoods participated in an extensive survey of their housing experiences. This report, compiled by Data You Can Use, highlights common themes among people living in our community as well as markers of inequity. This report informs VIA & our partners housing strategies on Milwaukee’s near south side.
