The organization that is now known as VIA Community Development Corporation began its journey under the name Vision Ministries and in 2002 it rebranded to Layton Boulevard West Neighbors. In 2020 the organization name changed from Layton Boulevard West Neighbors to VIA Community Development Corporation to better reflect its mission and evolving role within the community. VIA symbolizes forward movement and connection, as the organization works to link neighbors, businesses, and partners to resources, driving progress toward a more equitable future. The name reflects VIA’s three core services—Housing, Economic Development, and Community Life—represented by the icons of a house, business, and tree. The tagline, “Connecting people, Strengthening places,” encapsulates the organization’s mission to build on community assets and improve neighborhood wellbeing. VIA is easily recognizable and inclusive, resonating with people regardless of language.
