The Burnham Park Task Force (BPTF), a neighbor-led group, partnered with VIA to engage the community and work with MKE Rec to advocate for park improvements. Over ten years, BPTF organized meetings, design sessions, and fundraising to support. The park’s enhancements and an equity audit by MKE Rec and strong community involvement led to Burnham Park being selected for major renovations, which began in Summer 2020. The project, led by MKE Rec, includes new basketball courts, playground equipment, a splash pad, lighting, seating, and a youth turf soccer field. The renovations aim to enhance the park’s functionality, safety, and appeal, ensuring it meets the community’s needs and fosters an inclusive, engaging environment for all.
